City Administrator of Flint

Clyde Edwards is an expert in public policy and a lifelong resident of Flint. He has served as City Administrator since November 2019, appointed by Mayor Sheldon Neeley with the consent of the Flint City Council. His municipal government experience includes seven years on the Flint Civil Service Commission. Edwards served on the Civil Service Commission from 2003-2010. He worked for the state of Michigan for more than 20 years.

The bulk of his career was dedicated to being an advocate for children in Flint and Genesee County as a juvenile justice specialist and social services specialist. There he was responsible for helping troubled teens and pathways to success and for advocating for families. A graduate of Flint Southwestern High School, Edwards also attended Whittier Middle School and Scott Elementary. Edwards earned his Bachelor of Science in psychology from Eastern Michigan University and his Master of Science in administration from Central Michigan University.
