Editorial Cartoonist
Drew served as in-house editorial cartoonist for The Star-Ledger from 1998-2010. He continues to draw for the Star-Ledger on a weekly basis. His politically liberal cartoons help readers understand issues ranging from pop culture and politics to technology. In addition to his cartooning, he has done commercial illustrations and has published four books, “Nope!”, “Don’t Eat That!”, “Dinosaurs Are Not Extinct” and “The Goldilocks Zone.”
He began cartooning in college and worked as an intern at The Detroit News and The Oakland Press. He joined The Star-Ledger just two weeks after graduation, the youngest full-time editorial cartoonist in the country at the age of 23. You can still find his work in such papers as The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times.
He has won a variety of national awards for his work, including the Deadline Club Award from the New York Society of Professional Journalists, The Charles Schulz Award given by Scripps Howard and the John Locher award given by the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists.
