Keith Sintay '91

Communication and Fine Arts

Professional Character Animator

Keith Sintay has been a professional character animator for 20 years.  He was inspired to pursue his dream of animating after seeing The Rescuers in 1977; the sketchy pencil lines that were left on the characters throughout the movie allowed a peek into the art behind the scenes playing out in the film. His successful career began with the Walt Disney Feature Animation internship where he began as a traditional, or 2D, character animator. Right after completing his internship, he was hired  to work on Pocahontas.

Keith has worked on The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, and Tarzan at Walt Disney Feature Animation, and Spirit, Sinbad and Sharktale at Dreamworks Animation Studios. Additionally his work as a Sr. Animator can be seen in Sony Picture's Open Season, Surf's Up, Monster House, and Beowulf. Soon he expanded his skills into the CG world of visual effects by creating animation for I am Legend, Men in Black 3 and The Amazing Spiderman. At Digital Domain in Venice California, Keith brought to life characters and creatures in Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief,  Transformers 2 and 3, and Tron: Legacy.

Recent films include the blockbuster, Iron Man 3, Man of Steel and 300. Keith is currently working at Industrial Light & Magic in San Francisco on the newest Transformers movie.

In 2009, Keith was the recipient of the D&AD Golden Pencil Award for Animation on the acclaimed music video "Who's Gonna Save my Soul" performed by Gnarls Barkley. The award was presented for animation on the comically disturbing singing heart that appears throughout  the video.

Keith lives in California with his lovely wife Connie and their five rescued and pampered dogs; and greatly enjoys his collection of Star Wars memorabilia- complete with a life size R2D2 and C3PO!
