About COMPASS

Established in Fall 2025 with a CMU presidential Go Grant and a group of 11 students who wanted to make a difference in the lives of incoming freshmen, the COMPASS Program grew rapidly into a program with curricular and co-curricular elements. The COMPASS Program is a structured student-led initiative where trained students inspire their fellow students to develop healthy habits for success both inside and outside of the classroom.
At the heart of COMPASS are the Oros Well-th Scholars - a community of students who are committed to creating a life rich in balance, purpose, connections, and well-being. They understand that the choices and habits they build today will shape not only their college experience, but also their future.
As peer leaders, Oros Well-th Scholars bring the mission of COMPASS to life. They know that students often learn best from other students who understand the challenges and opportunities of college life. Through authentic conversations, meaningful relationships, and campus engagement, they encourage their peers to prioritize their well-being, build resilience, and discover what it means to create their own "well-th."
Together, the Oros Well-th Scholars and the COMPASS program are building a campus community where every student feels seen, supported, and connected. When students invest in themselves and one another, everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Mission
Empower CMU students to make choices and engage in activities that promote holistic well-being, personal growth, and academic success. Through leadership, inclusive engagement, and education, the COMPASS Program fosters a campus culture of empathy, resilience, and shared responsibility.
Vision
A campus community where students are confident leaders, compassionate peers, and active contributors to a healthy lifestyle. Through peer connections, students will develop lifelong skills, promote positive change, and help create a culture where all individuals can thrive.
