CIS Faculty Learning Community Initiative

The Office of Curriculum and Instructional Support (CIS) Faculty Learning Community (FLC) Initiative is designed to engage faculty in meaningful, sustained collaboration that supports the improvement of teaching and learning practices. Through faculty-proposed and faculty-facilitated learning communities, the initiative will provide opportunities for faculty to explore shared interests, exchange expertise, engage in scholarly inquiry, and develop innovative approaches to their educational practice. The initiative emphasizes three interconnected goals:

  • Strengthening faculty community and collaboration by creating opportunities for faculty to build collegial relationships, share experiences, and learn across disciplinary boundaries.
  • Encouraging innovation and improvement by supporting faculty in exploring, developing, and applying approaches that enhance teaching and learning.
  • Cultivating faculty leadership and shared expertise by empowering faculty to identify areas of inquiry, facilitate collaborative professional learning, and contribute to the broader university community.

The initiative recognizes faculty as both learners and leaders in educational innovation. Rather than prescribing specific topics, CIS will invite faculty to identify questions, challenges, and opportunities that are meaningful to their teaching and learning interests.

Applications will begin in November 2026. Watch this page and CIS communication channels for additional details.
