Friday Aug. 22

8:30 p.m. CMU Program Board Movie: F1, TBD

  • Spend a night in the fast lane with CMU Program Board as they host F1 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Experience a sports drama film starring Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula 1 driver lured back to the sport to mentor a young hotshot and revive a struggling team.

2:30 p.m. No Zebras, No Excuses, Plachta Auditorium

  • An interactive, high-impact program that empowers students to recognize, prevent, and respond to sexual aggression, dating violence, and bystander situations. Through real stories and dynamic performances, No Zebras inspires action and promotes a culture of consent, respect, and accountability. This program is for freshmen/first year students

Saturday Aug. 23

  • Come out and learn more about student organizations, fraternities and sororities, club sports, local businesses, and campus departments at our annual MainStage event! Not only will there be free swag, free food and a lot of fun events, but MainStage will help you find your home here at CMU! Whether that's joining Greek life or a club sport, MainStage is the bridge to finding an organization that is the perfect fit for you. Don't miss out!

      4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Get Acquainted Day, Warriner Mall 

      • The purpose is to familiarize students with opportunities and resources available on CMU's campus. This event has always been a wonderful way to celebrate the start of a new academic year and connect new and current students to registered student originations, campus departments, and local businesses in the CMU community. Every year this event attracts over 1,000 people, including live music, performances, interactive fun, and free food.

      • CMU Libraries welcomes First Gen Students and Allies with a specialized library orientation. It includes a library walkthrough relating to its academic support services, an intro to using the website and finding resources to allow for one to be successful at CMU, and a team-building activity. Incoming and returning First Gen Students and Allies are welcome. Gift bags provided.

      2:00 - 5:00 p.m. CBA Involvement Fair, Under the Tent in Warriner Mall/Rain Location: Grawn Atrium

      • Discover how to get involved in the 20+ student organizations in the College of Business Administration and learn more about study abroad opportunities in the CBA. CBA Graduate programs and academic advisors will also be there to answer any questions you have. Free t-shirts (first 200) and snacks provided.

      • Learn about the variety of different spaces available in Central Michigan University Libraries. On this 45-minute tour, students will be introduced to spaces for study, socialization, academic support, and exhibition in the library building and will also be introduced to related collections related resources.

          • Celebrate all month long with the Center for Student Inclusion and Diversity as they host cultural events/programs for CMU students for Hispanic Heritage Month! From Registered Student Organizations to CMU offices and departments, there are many opportunities to celebrate!

          Start of Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC) Recruitment

          • CMU's College Panhellenic Council (CPC) is kicking off recruitment, inviting students to explore the sisterhood, leadership, and service opportunities that come with joining a sorority. Recruitment is a chance to meet members from all CPC chapters, learn about their values and traditions, and find the organization where you feel most at home. Whether you’re looking for lifelong friendships, personal growth, or ways to get involved on campus, CPC recruitment is the perfect first step!

          • Join the Office of Student Activities and Involvement, CMU Athletics, Chippewa Marching Band and the Mary Ellen Brandell Volunteer Center at Fire up Fest. Let's celebrate a new academic year AND the start of the 2025 CMU athletics season with food, live band, traditional tailgate games, volunteer project and give-a-ways to show your school spirit and support for the Chippewas in a healthy tailgate-like atmosphere.

          Start of Interfraternity Council (IFC) Recuitment

          • CMU's Interfraternity Council (IFC) will start recruitment, opening the door to connection, growth, and campus involvement. Throughout the recruitment period, you’ll have the chance to engage with members from each chapter, experience their traditions firsthand, and find the community that feels like home. From leadership opportunities to lifelong friendships, joining an IFC fraternity is a chance to be part of something bigger while making your CMU experience unforgettable.

          TBD, National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Convocation, TBD

          • NPHC Convocation is required for all students interested in joining one of the historically Black and African American fraternities or sororities on campus. Convocation provides essential information about the values, expectations, and traditions of the National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations. Attendance is mandatory for all potential new members, as it sets the foundation for a successful recruitment process and ensures you are fully prepared to take the next steps toward joining a supportive and empowering community
