Friday Aug. 23

7:30 p.m. CMU Program Board Movie: Wonka, French Auditorium

  • Spend a night living out your chocolate fantasy with CMU Program Board as they host Wonka in Powers Ballroom. Wonka is a 2023 British-American fantasy musical film directed by Paul King from a screenplay by Simon Farnaby and King.

    Sunday Aug. 25

    1:00 p.m. CMU Women's Soccer Game, CMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex

    • Come support and cheer on your CMU Chippewas as they take on the Bearcats of the University of Cincinnati

    4:00 - 7:00 p.m. MainStage 2024, Franklin Street

    • Come out and learn more about student organizations, fraternities and sororities, club sports, local businesses, and campus departments at our annual MainStage event! Not only will there be free swag, free food and a lot of fun events, but MainStage will help you find your home here at CMU! Whether that's joining Greek life or a club sport, MainStage is the bridge to finding an organization that is the perfect fit for you. Don't miss out! 

    1:00 p.m. Chippewa Marching Band Pre-Season Show, Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium

    • Join us for a special performance by our marching band to start out the season. We are thrilled to continue celebrating over 100 years of bands at CMU!

      Monday Aug. 26

      8:30 - 11:00 a.m. Central Welcome Breakfast, Bovee UC Rotunda

      • Join us on the first day of the semester for a free ‘grab and go’ breakfast. Fuel your body and your mind with a kickstart to the new semester!  

          Tuesday Aug. 27 

          11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Student Employment Job Fair, Bovee UC Rotunda 

          • Find your on-campus job at the Student Employment Services Job Fair Tuesday, August 29th from 11 am – 2 pm!  Meet with departments from across campus, check your Work-Study eligibility and meet with Career Development for resume/cover letter assistance. 

           5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Greeks on the Lawn, Bioscience Lawn

          • Greeks on the Lawn is a multi-day showcase of the fraternities and sororities that have chapters at CMU. Stop by Greeks on the Lawn to meet the members, learn more about each organization and ask about their joining processes!

          Wednesday Aug. 28 

          4 - 7:00 p.m. Get Acquainted Day, Warriner Mall 

          • The purpose is to familiarize students with opportunities and resources available on CMU's campus. This event has always been a wonderful way to celebrate the start of a new academic year and connect new and current students to registered student originations, campus departments, and local businesses in the CMU community. Every year this event attracts over 1,000 people, including live music, performances, interactive fun, and free food. 

          7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Fire Up Fest, Kulhavi Events Center Plaza

          • Join the Office of Student Activities and Involvement, CMU Athletics and University Recreation at Fire up Fest. Let's celebrate a new academic year AND the start of the 2024 CMU athletics season with food, music, traditional tailgate games and give-a-ways to show your school spirit and support for the Chippewas in a healthy tailgate-like atmosphere.

          Thursday Aug. 29

          5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tailgate Central, Outside the Student Activity Center (SAC)

          • ‘Tailgate Central’ is a substance-free event that will provide food, music, and traditional tailgate games. Tailgate Central venue outside the Student Activity Center, under the clock, two (2) hours prior to kick off.

          Tuesday Sept. 3 

          2:30 - 5:30 p.m. CBA Involvement Fair, Warriner Mall/Rain Location: Grawn Atrium

          • The College of Business Administration will host the 4th Annual CBA Involvement Fair, showcasing 20+ Registered Student Organizations in the College of Business, as well as other unique opportunities for students in CBA. Snacks and giveaways will be provided! 

          7:00 - 10:00 p.m. RecFest: Glow Dodgeball, Student Activity Center (SAC) MAC Gym 1

          • Get ready to light up the night with an electrifying twist on a classic game! Join URec for Glow Dodgeball, an unforgettable experience where the thrill of dodgeball meets the vibrant energy of a neon party!

          7:00 - 10:00 p.m. RecFest: Super Smash Bros Tournament, Student Activity Center (SAC) Room 202

          • Prepare to battle it out in the ultimate showdown! Join URec and eSports for an action-packed Super Smash Bros. Tournament, where the fiercest competitors and enthusiastic fans come together for an unforgettable day of gaming glory! 

          Wednesday Sept. 4 

          7:00 - 10:00 p.m. RecFest: Glow Volleyball, Student Activity Center (SAC) MAC Gym 1

          • Dive into an unforgettable evening of fun, fitness, and glowing excitement with our Glow Volleyball Night! Join URec for the thrill of volleyball combined with the electrifying atmosphere of a neon party!

          Saturday Sept. 7 

          10:00 a.m. (Depart) SAI on the Road: Lansing Markets (For International Students)

          • Join the Office of Student Activities and Involvement for a bus trip to several Lansing markets for the opportunity to explore the Lansing area and shop for items or necessities not often found in the City of Mount Pleasant. 

          Monday Sept. 9

          Time TBD. First Gen Mixer, Location TBD

          • Come explore the resources that being a college student has to offer. Here at CMU, we define  a First Gen student as having parents or guardians that did not seek an education beyond a high-school diploma, your exposure to or knowledge of the university experience in general is limited. You will also have the opportunity to mix and mingle with current faculty and staff mentors to stay connected to CMU support systems. There will be free food at this event.

          Tuesday Sept. 10

          12:30 - 3:30 p.m. Take Care on the Lawn, Bovee UC Front Lawn

          • Come explore with the CMU Care Team/Student Affairs as they host campus resources for Mental Health, Alcohol and Substance use. Free donuts and coffee will be provided.

          Saturday Sept. 14

          6:00 a.m. (Depart) SAI on the Road: Chicago Trip

          • Explore the windy city with the Office of Student Activities and Involvement on a day bus trip to Chicago! Have fun making memories, shopping til you drop and eating all the wonderful options that the city has to offer! Want to check out The Bean or Skydeck Chicago? You can do it all on this day trip! 

            Monday Sept. 16

            Start of Hispanic Heritage Month Events, Various Locations on Campus 

            • Celebrate all month long with the Center for Student Inclusion and Diversity as they host cultural events/programs for CMU students for Hispanic Heritage Month! From Registered Student Organizations to CMU offices and departments, there are many opportunities to celebrate! 

            Tuesday Sept. 17

            10:00 a.m. - 4:00pm Fire Up the Vote, Library Lawn

            • Celebrate National Voter Registration Day with the Mary Ellen Brandell Volunteer Center at Fire Up the Vote! You'll have the opportunity to register to vote, meet with the City Clerk, play games, win prizes, and get free snacks! 

            7:30 a.m. Alternative Winter Breaks Sign up

            • interested in participating in an Alternative Winter Break? Sign ups open up at 7:30 a.m. and go quick, so be sure to be ready to go! Check out all the winter breaks on Engage Central.
