Welcome to the Scholarship Universe information page

This page is designed to support you, answer your questions, and ensure your experience with Scholarship Universe is as smooth and successful as possible.

Scholarship Universe is CMU’s centralized scholarship platform, created to connect students with internal and external scholarship opportunities.

Below, you'll find our projected implementation timeline. For more tailored information, please select either the “Student” or “Faculty/Staff” section.

This page will be continuously updated with FAQs, how-to guides, and other important resources to help you navigate Scholarship Universe with confidence. We’re excited to help you become a regular user of this platform! If you have questions that aren’t answered here, don’t hesitate to contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA)—we’re here to help.

Timeline

Fall and Spring awards

August 2026:

  • Finalize any changes of the scholarships/application

September 2026: 

  • OSFA will host the first round of training: What does SU look like; student experience, navigation

October 2026: 

  •  OSFA will begin to communicate to students that scholarships are now open 
  • Applications open October 1
  • Scholarship fair to be held October 28

November 2026:

  • Applications close at the end of the month (November 30) for incoming freshmen

December 2026:

  • Applications close for current students on December 21

January 2027:

  • Timeline is January 11-Feb 15 for awarding
  • Scholarship budgets will be added to Scholarship Universe
  • Throughout January, reminder emails will be sent out about the selection process.

February 2027:

  • Begin scholarship selections for eligibility
  • Outreach to continue to those who have not made selections
  • Incoming students' aid packages that applied for SU to go out mid-February

Summer awards

August 2026:

February 2027:

  • Applications open February 15

March 2027:

  • Applications close for students March 15

April 2027:

  • Application review due by April 15
  • Once approved, scholarship will flow onto the student's financial aid offer
