Associate Professor / Human Resources & Organizational Behavior
Dr. MacDougall applies her training in Industrial-Organizational Psychology to promote organizational betterment through positive organizational scholarship. Her research focuses on the ways in which organizations can foster increased employee performance, ethicality, and well-being, particularly through exploration of human resource policy and practices, training and development initiatives, and leadership. In addition, her work examines how high-impact pedagogical practices may equip business students with decision-making skills needed to navigate the workplace.
Previously, Dr. MacDougall dedicated five years to training and development initiatives, providing Professional Ethics Training (PET) to over 500 young professionals. She has worked in a consulting or advising capacity for various organizations including the Federal Aviation Administration, Continental Resources, and Merrill Technologies Group, and is an active member of the Academy of Management (AOM), the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
In her current role, Dr. MacDougall teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in human resources and organizational behavior. She has been recognized for her teaching, receiving the 2020 Lorrie Ryan Memorial CMU Excellence in Teaching Award and the 2018 AT&T Teaching Award for Innovation and Excellence in the Classroom. Prior to joining Central Michigan University, Dr. MacDougall taught at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Central Oklahoma.
