Biography

Cheryl Gonzalez is the Associate Director of Online Student Services at Central Michigan University, where she supports online programs for the College of Health Professions and the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Since joining CMU in 2014 through the Native American Programs office, Cheryl has held several roles focused on student inclusion and engagement, including work with LGBTQ Services & Gender Equity Programs, Diversity Education, and the Student Transition Enrichment Program. She transitioned to the Innovation & Online division in 2018 and has since focused on enrollment, engagement, and retention efforts for online students.

Outside of CMU, Cheryl actively serves her community through volunteer leadership. She has held roles such as Vice-Chair of the Isabella County Human Rights Committee, Election Inspector Chairperson for the City of Mount Pleasant, and Treasurer for Isabella County Families Against Narcotics.

Before entering higher education, Cheryl held leadership positions in multi-site operations, training, and development. A proud CMU alumna, she earned both her BS and MSA degrees online and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Educational Technology.

Cheryl is also the mother of three adult daughters and a six-year-old son who she lovingly adopted. Her life and work are grounded in compassion, inclusion, and a deep commitment to community.
