Biography
James joined the Office of Academic Planning and Analysis in
October 2025 after eight years working in K–12 policy assessment. Before coming

part of a CDC‑funded research project examining how policy influences prevalence
of bullying and violence among students.
James brings extensive experience developing policy and assessment practices in partnership with organizations such as the Michigan Departments of Education and Health and Human Services; county‑level health and education agencies including the Jackson County Health Department and Eaton Regional Education Service Agency; and youth‑serving organizations such as Alternatives for Girls in Detroit, Michigan, and the Wyman Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
After nearly a decade serving K–12 students, staff, and families, James is excited to turn his focus to higher education and embark on a new chapter of student-centered service.
