Biography

Professor Leah Wolf has 33 years of experience at General Motors in the automotive industry. Her expertise is in Business Management, Project Administration, Management Information Systems, Supply Chain, Logistics, Manufacturing, and Production Operations.

Her background includes assignments in 7 different assembly plants across the US, Mexico, and Canada working directly with 3 different automotive organized unions. She had assignments of increasing responsibility in the areas of Production, Supply Chain, and Supplier Quality. Her international experience includes 3 years in Canada, 2 years in Mexico, and a short-term assignment in Germany and Poland.

Her last 7 years at GM was spent in Warren, MI at the GM Tech Center responsible for all North American Launches for Supply Chain (including Mexico and Canada), Engineering Change Management Process, Pre-Production Vehicle Schedules, and Material Availability. This position also required the implementation of global processes. Her responsibilities consistently required working collaboratively with all other functions including Engineering, Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, Launch Program Teams, Order Fulfillment, and Marketing.

Career highlights include:

• She was the Supply Chain Director responsible for the greenfield construction and initial set up of the Lansing Delta Assembly Plant. She started as the site was beginning construction and was responsible for setting up the entire Supply Chain infrastructure, processes, and systems for this plant, internally and externally.
• She was responsible for the implementation of the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) Traceability Process for all Engineering Changes in GM’s 78 plants globally in 2015 per the Valukas report from the Ignition Switch recall.
  She was responsible for Master Dot planning tool and adherence for launch planning for all North American Assembly Plants for all new GM vehicle products.
• She has also directly engaged with International Suppliers for the last 22 years as part of her many assignments in Supply Chain.

Her formal education was completed at the University of Dayton completing her Masters of Business Administration in 1988. She also earned a Certified Quality Engineer and Certified Reliability Engineer certifications through the American Society for Quality by 1995. She earned her Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) in 2017 and her Certified Digital Marketing Professional Certification (CDMP) in 2022.

She retired from General Motors in July 2016 as a Supply Chain Senior Manager to allow her to focus on teaching at the university level. Since 2015, she has taught at Wayne State University in the school of Management and Information Systems focusing on classes in Organizational Behavior and Management Information Systems at the undergraduate and graduate level. She started teaching at Central Michigan University in 2017 focusing on Project Administration, Marketing, and Management. She now teaches focuses on Supply Chain strategies and Management courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level.
