Biography

Dr. Shilpa Alamuri is a faculty member in the Management Department at Central Michigan University, where she brings together academic expertise and real-world industry experience to explore what makes organizations and the people within them thrive.

Dr. Alamuri holds a PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Central Michigan University, along with a Master of Arts in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Her doctoral research examined applicant workload as a new lens for understanding applicant experience, with a focus on if cultural orientation moderates reactions to selection processes.

Her research interests center on hiring practices, applicant experience, and organizational behavior. Her work has been published in the College Student Journal and presented at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology Annual Conference and the Human Behavior and Evolution Society, among others.

Beyond her research, Dr. Alamuri has consulted with organizations such as CEB/Gartner and MyMichigan Health, supporting improvements in organizational assessments and strategic initiatives. She has taught a wide range of management and psychology courses in both traditional and fully online formats, including internationally, and was recognized with the CMU Excellence in Teaching Award for 2023-2024.
