Biography
Paul Collins (he/him) is an Associate Professor at Central Michigan University teaching courses in theatrical design and production. In addition to lighting and scenic designs for theatre, musical theatre, and dance, at the University level, Paul designs for professional theatres such as Mason Street Warehouse, Kickshaw Theatre, Midland Center for the Arts, PURE Theatre, and the Warehouse Theatre. Paul has often enjoyed collaborating on new works. He has worked alongside playwrights in developing new plays including Jen Silverman, Andrew Saito, Kevin Artigue, and Arlene Hutton. In addition he worked with Director/Choreographer Martha Clarke and Tony Award winning Lighting Designer Christopher Akerlind in developing In the Night, as part of the Iowa Partnership for the Arts.
Paul holds degrees from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (BFA), Grand Valley State University (MS), and University of Iowa (MFA).
