Biography

Tobi Y. Russell obtained her doctoral degree in Counselor Education from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan, and is currently working as a Fixed Term Remote Faculty in the M.A. in Counseling Program at Central Michigan University. Her professional background includes work as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Limited Licensed Psychologist working with children as young as 4, adolescents and adults in residential settings, outpatient agencies and private practice. She currently owns a private practice in Rochester Hills, Michigan. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Russell is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Association for Creativity in Counseling division as well as the Michigan Mental Health Counselors Association. She has presented on a variety of topics throughout the state of Michigan and is a supervisor for LLPCs. She is certified in addictions and in child and adolescent counseling. Her current research interests include non-suicidal self-injurious behavior, addictions and trauma, and the connection between pandemic stress and self-efficacy.
