The Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) program is designed for both beginners and those looking to deepen their IT expertise. If you're new to information systems, our curriculum provides a solid foundation in computing and business skills—no prior degree in the field required. Whether you choose to learn on campus or online, you'll gain the tools to excel in roles across business, consulting, government and nonprofits. You'll even be prepared to teach computer applications at community colleges or pursue a PhD in information systems.

Accelerated program test

With the accelerated master's, you can apply up to 12 credits from 500 and 600 level courses toward both your bachelor's and master's degree. This means you could complete your master's degree within 12 months of finishing your bachelor's, while paying the undergraduate credit hour rate for select courses! And, our students report that the accelerated program broadens their scope of study and helps them become well-rounded developers.

Accelerated program admission criteria:

  • Complete at least 90 credits (including transfer and/or AP credits) towards your bachelor’s degree, and meet all University Program requirements.
  • Have a minimum overall GPA of 3.25 and at least a 3.00 in computer science courses.
  • Fulfill regular admission criteria for the master's in computer science, except for Programming Language Concepts and Introduction to Operating Systems, which can be taken in your senior year.

In your fourth year, you'll complete 12 credits of graduate-level coursework (excluding independent study) that count toward both degrees. By the end of your fifth year, you'll finish the coursework needed for a master’s in computer science and complete either a thesis or research capstone.
