Academic Prioritization

CMU has completed an evidence-based review and prioritization of more than 350 academic programs, including more than 200 degree programs. The effort is critical to the pursuit of rigorous and relevant academic excellence.

As a result of the prioritization, CMU has eliminated 35 programs and invested an additional $5.9 million and hired 33 additional faculty for top-priority programs. These include physics, health administration, neuroscience, psychology, speech-language pathology, counseling and special education, biochemistry, engineering, environmental studies and broadcasting.
