Developing a Vision Statement

The Strategic Planning Team reviewed vision statements of more than 20 universities and discussed them. The essential question regarding the drafting of the vision statement is, “How would you envision CMU in the next 5 to 10 years?” A vision statement describes where we are going and what it will look like when we get there. It is an aspirational statement of what is possible; the picture of the future we want to create. Following each engagement meeting, the draft vision statement improved.
