College marks a life-changing chapter in your student's life. At Central Michigan University, we take their time here seriously, supporting their learning from day one. From their first class to their walk across the graduation stage, our goal is to make sure they feel supported through every single step of their educational journey.

Student success doesn't just happen on campus. Family members – including parents, grandparents, siblings, significant others, and other relatives – serve as an important supporting cast in students' success at college. Therefore, we have a vested interest in providing knowledge and resources to assist you during your student's time here.

The goal of this website is simple – to inform, educate, and support your student's success. Here you can discover a wealth of knowledge, including resources, frequently asked questions, contact information, important dates and other items specific to family members.

Our support also extends to you, too. If at any point you need assistance for your student, feel free to contact us, and we'll be happy to help in any way possible.

Family & Friends Weekend 2024

Come visit your CMU Chippewa for Family & Friends Weekend September 28 & 29! Stroll around CMU's beautiful campus in the fall, explore Mt. Pleasant's scenic downtown area or check out an athletic event!

CMU Football

September 28th you can cheer on CMU football at Kelly Shorts Stadium as they take on San Diego State University. CMU Athletics will be offering a bundle discount for all Family and Friends Weekend attendees that includes admission ticket for the game and a food voucher. Below are instructions on how to secure this bundle:

• First, visit the CMU Football sales page here
• Next, at the top of the page select the link that says "Promotions"
• Use the promo code FAMDAY24
• This will direct you to the Family & Friends Weekend promotion page. Under "Family & Friends Bundle" select the "Find Tickets" button
• You will then be directed to a different page to select your quantity. Don't forget that your CMU student does not need a football game ticket, but you may want to purchase the bundle for them for the food voucher. 
• Once your quantity is selected click Add to Cart
• Finally, you will select the Delivery Method and Check out

The 2024 Family of the Year will also be announced at the football game! Don't miss out when President Davies recognizes the winning family and offers his congratulations!

Magician Show - John Rotellini, presented by CMU Program Board

Prepare to be wowed and amazed by magician John Rotellini! This show is free for all Family & Friends attendees! Doors will open to Plachta Auditorium in Warriner Hall Saturday evening at 6:30 pm and the show will begin at 7:00 pm. Don't miss out!

CMU Soccer

Check out our women's soccer team as they face off with Western Michigan University at 1:00 pm and enjoy free admission into the game! 
Sunday's game will also be Hooligans Day! CMU fans will receive a cow bell upon arrival and be expected to make as much noise as possible! Join in the fun as students are encouraged to gather behind the Broncos' goal and be their hooligan selves! 

2024 Family of the Year Award

Encourage your CMU student to celebrate their family and supporters with the 2024 Family of the Year Award! We want to see CMU students showcase their parents, siblings, grandparents and those who support them and encourage them in their CMU journey by nominating them for the fifth annual Family of the Year Award!

To be considered for the Family of the Year Award students need to create a 3-5 minute video and send to family@cmich.edu. The submission is due by Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

In students' video, we want to know how their family helps them stay FIRED UP! Share the following:

• How has your family been involved in your academic journey?
• How has your family supported your academic success and personal growth?
• How has your family prepared you to demonstrate some of CMU's core values of respect, integrity, compassion, inclusiveness, social responsibility, excellence and motivation?

The Family of the Year will recognize three students and their families! Prizes include:

• First place: will receive a $300 award
• Second place: will receive a $100 award
• Third place: will receive a $50 award

The Family of the Year will be recognized by President Davies as part of our Friends and Family Weekend on Saturday, September 28. Videos will be shared on the Parent and Family Services website and other CMU social media platforms!
