"I wished I would have understood sooner the importance of balance and self-care. It allows you to be the best version of yourself."

Bob Oros
Vice Chairman, PPB Capital Partners

Invest in yourself. Build a life that thrives.

College is more than earning a degree.
It's about discovering who you are, building habits that last a lifetime, and learning how to navigate challenges with confidence.

At Central Michigan University, the Oros Well-th Scholars program is redefining lifelong success by empowering students to prioritize wellness as the foundation for success in college, in their careers, and throughout their lives.

What is "Well-th"?

Well-th is the wealth you build by investing in yourself.

It's not just about academics; it's about balance.
Your health. Your career. Your relationships. Your purpose.

The habits you build today will shape your future.
Your greatest investment is you.

A transformational first-year experience

Each year, a select cohort of first-year students joins the Oros Well-th Scholars program, creating a built-in community from day one.

You won't do college alone.

You will:

  • Connect with a close-knit group of peers across majors.
  • Explore real-life topics like stress, resilience, academic and personal success.
  • Learn how to balance academics, relationships, and well-being.
  • Build confidence through shared experiences and support.
  • Develop intentional habits and skills that support success in college, career, and life.

This is more than a program, it's a community that grows with you.

Learn. Lead. Make an impact.

As a Oros Well-th Scholar, you don't just grow, you help others grow too. Oros Well-th Scholars inspire their peers as a COMPASS Peer Educator.

As a COMPASS Peer Educator, you will:

  • Lead wellness initiatives across campus.
  • Support fellow students navigating stress and challenges.
  • Build leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Shape a campus culture where every student feels seen, valued, and supported.

You'll graduate not only prepared for a career, but prepared for life.

Who should apply?

This program is designed for students who want more out of their college experience.

You're a great fit if you are:

  • An incoming first-year student with a 3.0+ GPA.
  • Passionate about well-being, for yourself and others.
  • Interest in leadership, connection, and personal growth.
  • Looking for a community that values balance, purpose, and success.

Why this matters (for students & families)

Today's students face unprecedented challenges, academic pressure, constant digital connection, and rising stress.

The Oros Well-th Scholars program was created to meet this moment.  A man with glasses in a black suit, white dress shirt and black tie stands next to a woman in a black and red paisley dress. In the background is a door to a building.

Thanks to a generous grift from CMU alumnus Bob Oros and his wife, Lisa, this program is:

  • Expanding access to peer-to-peer mental health support.
  • Helping students build resilience and life skills.
  • Creating a campus culture where students feel supported, connected, and empowered.

Students who feel well, succeed.
And success in college leads to success far beyond it.

Built on care. Backed by vision.

This program builds on CMU's COMPASS initiative, designed to strengthen student resilience, reduce stress, and improve overall success.

It reflects a simple but powerful belief:

When students are supported as whole people, they thrive, in college and in life.
