Oros Well-th Scholarship Eligibility and Expectations

Eligibility

The Oros Well-th Scholarship is for any student who values personal wellbeing and wants to help other students find this passion too!

To be eligible for the Oros Well-th Scholarship you must have a 3.0 high school grade point average, have a completed FAFSA on file, and be admitted to Central Michigan University. 

As a full-time enrolled student, scholarship recipients will receive $4,000 per academic year for up to 4 consecutive years. Total scholarship value is $16,000. Students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average to be eligible for yearly renewal.

Yearly protocols

Oros Well-th Scholarship recipients will be required to meet all curricular and co-curricular expectations. Students will take some courses as a cohort, these courses fulfill general education requirements and do not constitute additional coursework for the student. 

Year 1

Fall semester

  • Attend Leadership Safari. 
  • Complete all onboarding and required training for participation in the COMPASS peer educators. 
  • Create a wellness plan to highlight areas of focus for you; wellness plans will include a plan for managing stress and difficult times.
  • Required coursework: Lifespan Development (3) - HDF 100 (IIIA).
  • Volunteer at the Fall Wellness Fair.
  • Attend weekly COMPASS meetings.
  • Attend one COMPASS sponsored event or one event sponsored by any office in the CSID or the Center for Collaborative Learning and Engagement.
  • Active membership in one (1) student or community organization, defined as a registered student organization, CMU varsity or club athletic team, Student Government Association, on-campus employment, Alternative Break participant, or other activity with approval of the COMPASS Director.

Spring semester

  • Review and update your wellness plan with the COMPASS Director and implement any desired or needed changes. 
  • Required coursework: Racism/Discrimination Dialogue (3) - IGR 145L (IVC).
  • Attend weekly COMPASS meetings.
  • Attend one COMPASS sponsored event or one event sponsored by any office in the CSID or the Center for Collaborative Learning and Engagement.
  • Active membership in one (1) student or community organization; defined as a registered student organization, CMU varsity or club athletic team, Student Government Association, on-campus employment, Alternative Break participant, or other activity with approval of the COMPASS Director.
  • Complete required hours as a wellness space host. 
  • Assist with COMPASS sponsored programs or Counseling Center sponsored programs.

Year 2

Fall semester

  • Complete all required training for COMPASS peer educators.
  • Review and update your wellness plan with the COMPASS Director and implement any desired or needed changes.
  • Take one course from the list of University Program course options approved for OROS Well-th Scholars.
  • Volunteer at the Fall Wellness Fair. 
  • Attend weekly COMPASS meetings.
  • Attend one COMPASS sponsored event or one event sponsored by any office in the CSID or the Center for Collaborative Learning and Engagement.
  • Active membership in one (1) student or community organization, defined as a registered student organization, CMU varsity or club athletic team, Student Government Association, on-campus employment, Alternative Break participant, or other activity with approval of the COMPASS Director.
  • Complete required hours as a wellness space host.
  • Create and lead a wellbeing program.

Spring semester

  • Review and update your wellness plan with the COMPASS Director and implement any desired or needed changes. 
  • Take one course for the list of University Program course options approved for Oros Well-th Scholars.
  • Attend weekly COMPASS meetings.
  • Attend one COMPASS sponsored event or one event sponsored by any office in the CSID or the Center for Collaborative Learning and Engagement.
  • Active membership in one (1) student or community organization, defined as a registered student organization, CMU varsity or club athletic team, Student Government Association, on-campus employment, Alternative Break participant, or other activity with approval of the COMPASS Director.
  • Complete required hours as a wellness space host.
  • Create and lead a wellbeing program.

Year 3

  • Complete all required training for COMPASS peer educators.
  • Review and update your wellness plan with the COMPASS Director and implement any desired or needed changes.
  • Attend weekly COMPASS meetings.
  • Attend one COMPASS sponsored event per semester or one event sponsored by any office in the CSID or the Center for Collaborative Learning and Engagement.
  • Active membership in one (1) student or community organization, defined as a registered student organization, CMU varsity or club athletic team, Student Government Association, on-campus employment, Alternative Break participant, or other activity with approval of the COMPASS Director.
  • Volunteer at the Fall Wellness Fair.
  • Complete required hours as a wellness space host. 
  • Create and lead a wellbeing program.

Year 4

  • Complete all required training for COMPASS peer educators.
  • Fall semester - Review and update your wellness plan and implement any desired changes. 
  • Spring semester - Create a post-graduation wellness plan.
  • Attend weekly COMPASS meetings.
  • Attend one Compass sponsored event or one event sponsored by any office in the CSID or the Center for Collaborative Learning and Engagement.
  • Active membership in one (1) student or community organization, defined as a registered student organization, CMU varsity or club athletic team, Student Government Association, on-campus employment, Alternative Break participant, or other activity with approval of the COMPASS Director.
  • Volunteer at the Fall Wellness Fair.
  • Complete required hours as a wellness space host. 
  • Complete all required training for participation in the COMPASS Peer Educators.
  • Complete a reflection on your growth and change over the last 4 years and share this at the end of the year celebration.
