Business Information Systems Department
2023 Faculty Distinguished Service Award Winner

In 13 years of service as Director of the Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) program, Dr. Boasson has made extraordinary contributions, including working diligently to increase the total number of MSIS students enrolled, from 63 in January 2010 to 612 in Fall of 2022. He has been the linchpin of the program's success through a collaborative effort among faculty and staff while maintaining a smile and having time to support colleagues and students. A key factor in Dr. Boasson’s success is that he works with students throughout their journey, including recruiting both domestically and internationally, evaluating application materials, communicating with incoming and current students, facilitating class registration through advising, mentoring teaching assistants, and helping students find academic and wellness resources.

While undertaking these duties, Dr. Boasson has continued to teach every semester, including several sections of the MSIS introductory courses, with 100+ students each. Boasson has also maintained a strong academic presence by staying current in his field, presenting at conferences, and publishing research papers.
