Authorized Payers

Grant secure access to your student account billing information for parents, guardians, or other trusted individuals.

What are authorized payers?

Authorized payers are individuals you designate to view your electronic billing statements and make payments on your behalf through your Transact account. This may include parents, guardians, sponsors, or other trusted individuals.

Privacy protection and FERPA

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) protects your educational records, including billing information.  Before Student Account Services and University Billing can share any account information with a third party, you must first grant permission through your Transact account.

What authorized payers can do:

  • View your student billing account activity online
  • Make payments on your account
  • Inquire with Student Account Services and University Billing staff about your account

How to authorize a payer

Step 1: Log in to your Transact account
Step 2: Select My Account in the left navigation menu
Step 3: Click Send payer invitation under the Payers heading
Step 4: Complete the invitation form with the payer's information

Your authorized payer will receive an email invitation to create their own Transact account with access to your billing information.

How to remove an authorized payer

You are responsible for removing access for any individual you no longer wish to authorize. You can delete a payer's account at any time through your Transact account settings.

Important: If an authorized payer has established a Transact Payment Plan, their account cannot be deleted for 30 days following completion of the payment agreement.
