Niemiec, Anthony
Biography
Hello! My name is Anthony Niemiec (knee-mick), and here’s a little about me…
I was born and raised in Bay City. Upon high school graduation, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, so I began coaching high school football, basketball, and baseball while attending Delta College (and living rent-free at home!). During this time, I found that I LOVED interacting with people of all different ages about sports, life, and education. I decided to pursue secondary social studies education at Saginaw Valley, where I graduated in 2022. I taught AP Economics at Herbert Henry Dow High School for 2.5 years while coaching two sports, leading a multitude of clubs (including DECA), and eventually pursuing my Master of Science in Instructional Technology from Fort Hays State University in Kansas, which I completed this past May. My favorite memory of teaching at Dow high was having the honor of being the Staff Commencement Speaker for the class of 2024.
In August of 2024, suffering from my quarter-life crisis, I moved to downtown Detroit and worked at Arthurs Middle School in Trenton, MI, where I taught 6th-grade social studies. My mantra for life now is: if you can teach 35 6th-graders, you can do anything in life. In Detroit, I was able to join multiple run clubs, walk to Tigers and Pistons games, and enjoy living the "city" life!
In my free time I like to run, read a great historical fiction book, and just do anything to move my body. This past October, I ran my first (and most likely only) marathon in Detroit/Canada. Currently, I reside in Mount Pleasant and am looking forward to watching CMU football!
