The News widget displays articles that can be filtered by categories and tags such as "research."

No layout is needed for this widget.

Do:

  • Max three stories per page. 

Do NOT:

  • List every news story on the page.

Written instructions

Add the layout

The News widget does not need a Layout and can be added to any full-width container.

Add widgets

  • Click the Content tab on the right of the page.
  • Add the News widget to the container.

Build widgets to specifications

Under Content

1. Which News to Display? Select one of three options:

A. All News: Shows all CMU news.

B. Selected News: Shows only selected news stories.

Choose the select button.

In the next modal screen, select the news you wish to display.

C. Filtered News:

Select one:

Categories: To filter by categories.

Tags: To filter by tags.

Date: To filter by date.

College Department: To filter by college department(s).

2. Enter your heading.

35 characters max.

3. Enter your link text.

35 characters max.

4. Link Target: Select same window.

5. Link ADA Title: Enter your ADA text.

6. Link to:

Pages within:

A. Choose: Choose the link of the CMU news page.

 


Under List Settings

7. Use Limit: set to 3.

8. Sort news: Last Published.

9. List Template: Choose only one of these options:

A. Featured News

B. Featured News Blue

10. Save.

Under Single Item Setting

11. Open single item in: Selected existing page...

12. Selected existing page: News>News Details

Save and send

  • If you'd like to continue working on this page, but need to save your progress, click Save as Draft.​
  • If you're finished making changes to the page, and the page is ready for review, click Send for Approval.
