Sidebar Callout

For a sidebar container only.

The SidebarCallout is an effective tool to drive attention to important callouts, such as application deadlines, term dates, and upcoming events.

Widget standards

No layout is needed for this widget.

Do:

  • Use only one per page.
  • Add a clear call to action that will direct the audience effectively.

Do NOT:

  • Add multiple calls to action in the widget.
  • Use outside the left sidebar WYSIWYG container.

Written instructions

Use the Sidebar Callout widget to draw attention to important information or direct your audience to take a specific action.

1. Navigate to the page where you want to add the Sidebar Callout widget.

2. Click on the "SidebarCallout" widget and drag it into the Side WYSIWYG container under the lefthand navigation.

4. Make sure the Template field is set to "Card".

5. Enter your heading into the Heading field. Max 75 characters including spaces.

6. Enter your main text into the Description field. Max 150 characters including spaces.

7. To add a call to action or CTA, click the Link Text field and enter your button text. Max 30 characters including spaces.

8. Link Target: Select your option based on criteria.

a. Same Window: for internal CMU pages.

b. New Window: for external pages not within cmich.edu.

9. In the Link ADA Title field, add the ADA text description of the link.

10. To link to a page, click on "Select" under Page within the site.
Find the page you want to link to.
Select the page.
Click on Done selecting.

11. To add a website link, click on "URL". Paste or type the link into the URL field.
If you are linking to a website outside of cmich.edu, check the box in front of Display Speedbump.

12. To add a document, click on the Change document button.
Select your document from the DAM.
Click on done selecting.

13. Once you've completed adding your content to the Sidebar Callout widget, click Save.

Save and send

  • If you'd like to continue working on this page, but need to save your progress, click Save as Draft.​
  • If you're finished making changes to the page, and the page is ready for review, click Send for Approval.
