Why This Program & What You'll Learn

The coursework in this graduate program will help individuals who see themselves possibly preparing for exams to be Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD) by the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM).

Students will be able to:

  • Evaluate implementation processes in making sourcing decisions for strategic partnerships, such as vendor managed inventory, that involve information sharing, negotiations, supplier selection, contract management, ethics and accountability.
  • Develop production planning and procurement contract administration activities, such as assessing forecasts and master schedules, applying the buy-make framework, considering single-source and multi-source arrangements, evaluating outsourcing opportunities, specifying manageable contract scopes, terms, and conditions, and selecting appropriate suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Design logistics layouts and networks that assess lean performance impacts on efficiency, service levels, and sustainability for the effective operation and governance of processes and systems in buyer-supplier relationships.

The growth for logistics-related jobs has been significant and many people employed in businesses have found themselves doing more in the logistics space. The job market trend is such that employees are more frequently switching careers than before and may be drawn to a high demand field such as this. This certificate contains core, essential classes to the field of logistics management and allows students to get specific skills training in a short period of time.

Logistics Management professionals design and operate all of the supply chains in a society. They manage inventory, transportation, warehousing, packaging, order fulfillment, distribution, customer service, and data. Logistics management jobs are expected to grow 18% in the next 10 years. Many of our graduates accepted full-time positions as logistics analysts for companies such as Amazon, Ryder Systems, Penske Logistics, Dominos, and Kimberly Clark Company; they also accept positions as industrial engineers for companies such as UPS and Kohl’s.
