Why This Program & What You'll Learn

The athletic coaching minor prepares you to lead young champions and help them find their inner greatness. With well-rounded courses, you'll have the expertise to be an inspiring coach — a positive influence your young athletes will remember for the rest of their lives.

With this program, you'll be prepared to coach athletics in a public school, private school, recreation program or community athletic program.

You'll learn a range of topics that thoroughly prepare you to lead any sports program. The courses cover essential coaching knowledge and strategies. These include skills and techniques, rules and regulations, psychology, first aid and emergencies, and season planning.

Program Highlights

With a CMU athletic coaching minor, you'll:

• Learn about coaching a wide range of sports.
• Understand rules and regulations that will allow you to teach and lead effectively.
• Be prepared to coach in a Michigan High School Athletic Association or other state athletic association sports program.
• Be advised by a 4-year or 3-year plan.
