Are you a fitness fanatic? A minor in health fitness from Central Michigan University may be right for you. This program combines nutrition and health sciences to prepare you for a career as a health fitness professional, personal trainer, or strength and conditioning coach. You’ll also have career options in corporate wellness and health promotion after graduation.​​

Why This Program & What You'll Learn

In our health fitness minor program, you'll take advantage of a little bit of everything our School of Health Science has to offer. Build a solid foundation in health and wellness with coursework in exercise science, nutrition, personal training, and fitness assessment. Choose from a wide range of electives to best match your career goals. Focus on everything from marketing strategies to work injury prevention to group fitness instruction.

Our minor is designed for:

  • Exercise Science majors (Clinical Exercise Science or Kinesiology options).
  • Athletic Training majors.
  • Graduates of either of these majors preparing to work in the fitness or sports performance industry.
  • Graduates of either of these majors intending to obtain certifications available in the field of health fitness.

Note: Exercise Science majors selecting the Health Fitness Option may not minor in Health Fitness.
