Every great vacation you've ever taken has involved behind-the-scenes work from hospitality services professionals. From managing a resort restaurant putting out Instagram-worthy food to running a hotel that hosts destination weddings, you'll need the right skills and experience, and you'll earn them in our hospitality services administration program.
You'll get the behind-the-scenes knowledge of what it takes to operate a restaurant, hotel, resort or casino through classes held on-site at the on-campus Marriott Hotel.
Study abroad in Costa Rica while exploring the ecotourism industry, and network with recruiters and industry professionals.
If you're planning to work in a field related to hospitality, such as food service administration or recreation, you can minor in this program. You'll get an introduction to marketing and management while focusing your studies on topics relevant to your career.
Program Highlights
As a hospitality major, you might:
- Work or complete a paid internship at the on-campus Marriott Hotel.
- Study abroad in Costa Rica and explore ecotourism, workplace diversity and local customs while networking with seasoned professionals and recruiters.
- Work at the McLaren Hospitality House as part of an especially meaningful internship opportunity. This home in Flint serves cancer patients and their families.
- Spend a week in Chicago meeting with industry professionals and recruiters from companies like Marriott, Hyatt, The Ritz-Carlton, Virgin Hotels, The Godfrey Hotel, Hard Rock Café and more. You'll tour these facilities and get a sneak peak behind the scenes to see hands on how operations are managed.
