Human resource managers pair the right people with the right organization and jobs. With this degree, you'll help organizations—and the people who work there—reach their full potential. You'll learn how to optimize employee expertise into a competitive advantage for organizations by attracting, selecting, and retaining the best talent to help them achieve their goals.
Why This Program & What You'll Learn
Organizations are only as good as the people who work there. Human resource managers are the leaders responsible for building that workforce. Central Michigan University's human resource program gives you hands-on hiring experience with industry leaders.
We have partnerships with companies such as Thompson Reuters, Dow Corning, Enterprise Rent-A-Car. You'll see how companies get a competitive edge by hiring the right people, and learn how to retain and train them.
The best HR managers understand business leadership, as well as what inspires people to excel. CMU teaches both sides of that equation. You'll establish a foundation in business principles, such as accounting and finance. And you'll add to that with classes in recruitment, compensation, training and development, labor relations and more. You'll be ready to become a full contributing member of the leadership team.
As a human resource management major, you will:
- Collaborate with Michigan companies as part of your regular classes. Students have helped companies such as Dow Corning, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and Thomson Reuters on recruitment, training and development.
- Gain professional development opportunities through our Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) chapter.
- Study in a major ranked with the best: Every undergraduate program in the College of Business Administration is certified by the AACSB.
