Getting Around Campus

Central Michigan University does not provide personal transportation services and all students are responsible for getting to class.

Area scooter rental

While CMU doesn’t provide personal devices like scooters, a lot of our students with transportation needs have been able to rent a scooter from one of the local medical supply companies. It's the student's responsibility to reach out for pricing and availability.

Critical paths map

The Critical Paths Map identifies paths cleared first during inclement weather.

The Critical Path provides a path from accessible entrance to accessible entrance and may not always be the most direct path between buildings but is the priority during snow and ice.

Please know that if we are having continual snow, freezing rain, wind, etc., they do their best to keep these routes cleaned but there will be times when the path is not as clear.

Disability parking

For temporary disability parking needs, you may request a temporary permit from CMU’s Parking Services. You will need appropriate documentation from your doctor. For more information regarding parking, please visit the CMU Parking Services website.

Public transportation

Isabella County has a bus system called I-Ride that may be helpful. For shuttle schedules and locations, please visit I-RIDE.

Report weather-related hazards

Anyone with a CMU global ID may report potential hazards on campus, such as ice on walking paths, to Facilities Management.  Please call 989-774-6547 or 989-774-1847 after business hours and on weekends.
