Citizens Police Academy

CMUPD Citizens Police Academy allows the community to gain experience in various aspects of law enforcement. Members of the academy will gain insight into the operation of our police department and learn how the law enforcement community works together to maintain public safety.

Classes are scheduled for five weeks and are on Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. The first class begins on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, with the final session ending on October 9, 2024.

Applications for the 2024 Citizen's Police Academy are open through September 5, 2024, or until the class is full. Selected applicants will receive an email or phone call. There is no cost to take part in this class.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Applicant must be a CMU Student, faculty/staff member, or local community member.
  • 15-20 participants will be selected.

  • Patrol Operations
  • 911 Operations
  • Emergency Services Team
  • Community Policing
  • Field Training Program
