Scholar Education Program
Join a cohort of passionate undergrads who are excited to become the future of education. Develop a strong understanding of best practices that you can integrate into your future classroom! Scholars get one-of-a-kind access to the center's makerspace. The time you have working with tools, assisting K - 12 students, and learning from former and current classroom teachers makes this program the perfect fit for future educators.

With focused professional development opportunities and time to build skills in the makerspace, STEM Education Scholars walk into the classroom with valuable experience.
Experience with K - 12 students
Work with children as early as your freshman year in the makerspace. Learn from our staff of educators as they lead experiences for students with your support.
As an Education Scholar you will:
- Gain real-world experience!
- Set goals related to your teaching
- Support programming under the mentorship of experienced classroom teachers
- Help students prototype to find solutions to problems
Earn while you learn
You're eligible to receive up to $2,260, which includes:
- $1,000 stipend for tuition
- Annual membership in a national math or science association
- Paid trip to a math or science conference
Program Requirements
Incoming Students
Potential STEM Education Scholars are expected to have:
- SAT scores at or above 530 (math) and 480 (writing).
- GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Completed STEM Education Scholar Application

Current CMU Students
Program Requirements
Potential STEM Education Scholars are expected to have:
- Current GPA 2.8 (same as admission to Teacher Education)
- Reference from CMU Staff or Faculty member
- Completed STEM Education Scholar Application
