Statement of solidarity with Ukraine

As a university community dedicated to the ideal of global citizenship, we stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. We join our colleagues in the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities in condemning the Russian invasion and express our deep concern for the safety and well-being of the millions of people impacted by this conflict.

To become global citizens, we must remain informed and engaged in the news and events shaping our world. I invite members of our campus community interested in learning more about the history of the conflict to listen to Dr. David Jesuit, chair of CMU’s political science department, give an overview in this interview with WOOD-TV.

We are mindful and support the CMU students, faculty and staff who have close ties to Ukraine.  We are here to support them through this difficult time. Resources for students are available through the CMU Counseling Center, and faculty and staff can connect with resources through the Employee Assistance Program.

We are a community that prides itself on lifting up our colleagues and friends. If you know someone who is struggling, please offer them your compassion and support.
