What is the process?

  1. First you need to meet the eligibility requirements above. If you do, you can apply online in the student MiSSG Student Portal for the fellowship.
  2. Once you apply for the fellowship, our office will review the application and if eligible, will certify your eligibility with the state. This process can take 1-2 weeks after the semester has begun. Please note, we cannot begin the process until the semester has started and the process of certification has opened at the state.
  3. After certification, you will then need to complete your commitment to teach agreement in the MiSSG Student Portal.
  4. Once that is completed, our office can request reimbursement from the state and the fund will be added to your financial aid.

Please note, even if the MiSSG portal states “eligible”, you may not be eligible if you are not meeting the basic requirements above. One of the biggest roadblocks are students are not in the educator preparation program yet or have 56 credits completed yet. Don't forget to take a look at the basic criteria of eligibility!
