Our program will help you understand your world and give you the tools to help make it a more peaceful place. You’ll learn how conflicts start and about efforts that have been made to resolve them. You’ll consider the special challenges posed by ethnic and religious conflict. And, you’ll learn about the role of peacekeeping missions in resolving civil wars.
If you want to see the world, you’ll get plenty of opportunities with security studies. Learn from internships, study abroad experiences and other programs. And, put your skills to the test in our Model United Nations program.
The certificate program is open to students in any major and to students who are not seeking a degree.
Security studies program highlights
As a student in our program, you can:
- Participate in UN simulations: Take part in international United Nations simulations. Our students have earned a number of awards at this event, including Distinguished Delegation.
- Expand your global perspective: Study abroad and experience different cultures while gaining a deeper understanding of global issues.
- Gain hands-on experience: Secure internships with national and international organizations to apply your knowledge in real-world settings and get experience for your résumé!
- Gain first-hand experience: Complete coursework along with refugees living in a refugee camp.
