Budget Priorities Committee

Central Michigan University's Budget Priorities Committee was created in 2013 by CMU President George E. Ross and the Academic Senate. Its purpose is to promote understanding among CMU stakeholders regarding CMU’s budget processes in the spirit of shared governance and transparency. The BPC is intended as a means for campus constituents to receive budgetary information and provide input to the BPC members and for the Committee to offer informed advice on budgetary priorities that shall be considered by those senior officers who make final budget recommendations and decisions.

A major obligation of each committee member is to become well informed about CMU’s budget and budget processes. The BPC addresses issues affecting the good of the whole university.

The committee serves as a conduit of information regarding major university initiatives and priorities at the macro level.

Committee charge

  2. Provide a channel of communication from various university groups to contribute information essential or of value to the budget process; and
  3. Provide well-informed advice to the President about university-wide priorities that should factor into budget development, including increased commitments or reductions, as aligned with CMU’s strategic plan.
