Juneteenth Committee

The Juneteenth Committee works to coordinate community wide events, programming, education, and initiatives. This includes intentional community collaboration and outreach.

Juneteenth is a federally recognized holiday that commemorates Union troops ensuring the freedom enslaved African Americans in Galveston Bay and across Texas over two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, on June 19, 1865.
