Sitefinity Page Build Checklist

Before a page goes live in Sitefinity, it must pass this checklist. Pages that don’t meet the requirements will be sent back to the approver with notes on changes to make. Approvers must use this same checklist when reviewing editor pages. Following it ensures accessibility, clarity, consistency with CMU’s web standards, and a better user experience. Use it as the final step before submitting for approval.

General

  • Content follows AP Style
  • Times use “a.m.” and “p.m.”
  • Ampersands (&) are replaced with “and”
  • Content meets website and accessibility standards
  • Information is digestible and easy to scan
  • All headings use sentence case (only the first word is capitalized)
  • CMU brand voice and visual branding are used

Pages

  • SEO description is complete (under Title and Properties)
  • Category and tag information is added
  • Widgets are built correctly using CMU standards
  • Introduction sentence is included
  • Images meet accessibility requirements
  • Buttons and links meet accessibility requirements:
    • Button ADA text is filled in
    • External links open in new tabs and include speedbumps
    • Page title is clear—no abbreviations or special characters

Images

  • No text on images; accessibility guidelines are followed
  • Image is saved in the correct DAM folder
  • Image dimensions match intended widget use
  • File size is optimized (less than 1MB)
  • Image properties are completed:
    • Alternative text is a literal description
    • Category is added
    • No tags are added

Documents

  • File is in the correct DAM folder
  • File is a PDF or Word doc
  • File size is optimized (less than 5MB)
  • Document properties are filled in:
    • Description explains the file contents
    • Category and tags are added

People

  • Button text and button URL are correctly entered (optional)
  • Profile image is 200x250 with properties completed (optional)
  • Category and tag information is added
  • SEO description is filled in:
    • “___________ is a ____________ at Central Michigan University.”

News

  • Title is clear and accurately reflects the story
  • Required thumbnail image is added
  • Category and tag information is added
  • Story contact information is included
  • SEO description is filled in
