Student Representatives

The University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council (UDEIC) was formed of designated representatives from across campus including faculty, staff, and students. The council works to help promote and select grant and prize recipients, help design and implement local unit initiatives and reporting, disseminate and act on diversity data, build participation in DEI activities, keep units informed and share unit issues and needs. Student participation on the UDEIC helps the council fulfill its mission and vision.

Vision statement

The University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council will facilitate the exchange, promotion, and leadership of new and existing initiatives to create and maintain a sense of equity and belonging to all.

Mission statement

To lead the Central Michigan University community in strategic, transformative, and respectful actions by intentionally engaging the power of diversity. To advocate, inspire and serve as a sounding board, identifying ways to collaborate while acknowledging the social differences in power.

Council membership expectations

  • Commitment to mission and vision of the University Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
  • Active participation, which includes attending meetings when possible, contributing to discussions and decisions of the committee, and participating in subcommittee and DEI initiatives Council meeting days/times vary each semester but allow for involvement in UDEIC work as schedules allow. 
  • Desire and dedication to impact the Central Michigan University community in a positive and meaningful way in regard to diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

Students interested in membership on the UDEIC are encouraged to complete the application linked below. While applications are accepted all year, those interested in beginning their involvement in fall 2024 should submit the application by August 30th at 5:00 p.m. ET.
